MUTONI Alice continues to improve herself though technology

Increasing representation of women in tech is important not only for the brilliant career opportunities it can offer to them, but also for the ability of the technology industry as a whole to innovate and rise to meet the needs of society. However, Rwanda's government also supports initiatives such as the Miss Geek Rwanda competition, an initiative of Girls in ICT Rwanda, which aims to encourage school-age girls, even those in remote areas, to develop innovative tech or business ideas and to generally immerse themselves in ICT.

MUTONI Alice is a student at the University of Kigali in the Department of Accounting and she lives in Gasabo district in the Kimironko sector.

Urugoli visited her and told us that she had prospered due to the production of the leaves of the trees that had fallen on the ground and made a verine of hunger and sold them as she prospered.

She started This a career since 2021, when she started studying at university. It was after he realized that studying accounting was also not enough and decided to find a job to help her.

Has told URUGOLI that it has helped her in the way of living and t also other youth who have been introduced by her to this career.And She considers it as a good because it is also in the context of environmental conservation so that these leaves are not burned and cause harm to the air pollution.

Concludes by saying that in what she does, would not be able to do it without using technology, because it helps her to promote and advertising what she does through internet where she uses social media like Facebook, Instagram, email etc.

According to MINICT for the last 28 years, Rwanda has deliberately explored every avenue available to deliver national transformation through economic development.

Providing work experience to school girls or participating in lectures will strengthen awareness and encourage women to pursue a career in tech. It is also crucial to attract women in tech who are returning to work as they may possess developed skills and experience which could strengthen the tech company.

Such undertakings have found fertile ground in Rwanda, which has established a ministry of ICT and innovation in order to position itself as a knowledge hub in this part of the world. The East African nation has also become a global leader in promoting gender equality, which is enshrined in legislation. In November 2019, Rwanda will hosted the Global Gender Summit, a biennial event organized by multilateral development banks, including the African Development Bank.
