RWANDA: Children between 5&11 years old to be vaccinated against COVID 19

Vaccinating children against Covid-19 is already ongoing in other countries. Children between the ages of 5 and 11 will be vaccinated with Pfizer's Covid-19 vaccine, starting in October 2022, and will continue until they have received 2 doses have immunity in their bodies. The World Health Organisation has also agreed the dosage for emergency use.

He added that vaccinating children 5 to 11 years reduces circulation of virus in the community and limits the risk of further outbreaks in both healthy people and those vulnerable to severe Covid-19 such as pregnant women and older adults.

Religious leaders and churches are asked to campaign among Christians and Muslims, so that the parents of the children can understand the reasons for participating in the program, the parents of the children are asked to fill out the designated form before protecting the child and the parent would need it during the to protect his child at school that they are allowed.

Mgr. Kayinamura Samuel, the Head of the Protestant Churches in Rwanda (CPR) testifies that they are going to encourage religions and churches, so that the activity of protecting children from Covid-19 will be productive, and that they are going to fight rumors that can discourage those who can bring rumors and lies in people with different reasons, aiming to prevent and respond to that protection.

He said, "Together we will fight rumors and prevent the creation of bad perceptions that would prevent some people from participating in the program."

Sheikh Mufti of Rwanda Habimana Saleh, Leader of Muslims in Rwanda, said that life is an important thing that is not something to be played with, that if a person does not participate in the program, he is in violation of the instructions given by the Government of Rwanda and religious authorities and churches that they have no basis.

He said, "We will prevent what disturbs the lives of Rwandans, life is a non-playable activity, we must participate in that plan".

The Secretary of State in the Ministry of Health said that when a child is sick, he is not in good health, the immunizers have been instructed not to vaccinate, but when the child is not sick, he can be immunized. A child who has been vaccinated for 3 weeks is 21 days and is vaccinated a second time, called the 2nd dose.

Religious leaders and churches in collaboration with religious organizations such as World Relief played an important role in fighting the Covid-19 epidemic, when the first person was exposed to the epidemic, at that time the people did not know where the help could come from.

The leaders said that what they did was just to pray for God to overcome the epidemic.

The Government of Rwanda has introduced the Covid-19 vaccine, which targets adults and goes down, until it reaches children between the ages of 5 and 11, so its intensity will be reduced and the patient will not escape.

Moses Ndahiro, the CEO of World Relief, an international religious organization, in collaboration with USAID, the American Organisations, emphasizes that they have carried out a campaign from March 2021 to February 2022 in the districts of Musanze, Karongi, Ngoma and Nyamasheke, using community radio stations.

They encouraged the people to participate in taking the vaccine and testing, at that time it was said to have yielded positive results.

Dr. Usta Kayitesi, the Director General of RGB (Rwanda Governance Board) said that if the elders are vaccinated against COVID-19, they will not be affected, that is why children will not be affected if they are vaccinated in the schools where they live, that they will have increased immunity to fight against 'The COVID-19 pandemic is changing.

He said, "We are here because we are protected from COVID-19, we are going to do what we are used to doing".

Rev. Gahungu Bunini, the General Secretary of the Alliance of Churches in Rwanda (AER, Alliance Evangélique au Rwanda) said that vaccinations for children are as important as for adults to be given without any side effects that they are going to fight rumors even though they are not missing in the world.

"Parish leaders should be given written documents (leaflets), so that they can better understand and understand them". He said
