The event saw thousands of Rwandans championed by the First Lady Jeannette Kagame , participate in a special car free day to sensitize awareness on Diabetes.

This year's theme for World Diabetes Day is , "Protect your Family."

The Ministry of Health is working around the theme to emphasize the role of family in preventing diabetes.

Rwandans are called on to embrace a health lifestyle that is characterized by sports and good feeding to reduce the risk of Non Communicable Diseases .
