Rwamagana: They laud assistance they get from Isange One Stop Center

Some of the parents from Rwamagana District testify that it is very important Program, they are happy based on the assistance accorded to the victims of violence on a daily basis.

One of the parents who talked to the press on circumstances of community said, whoever a parent encounters a problem, they call you, urguing you to marry up so that we offer her helps by taking medical examination and see whether there is an additional problem.

It’s not only the parents and some of the youth who live in the district attest that they access information fully at Isange One Stop-Center. So as to pass information in the time, thus accessing assistance in a timely manner.

Though, Irasubiza Fiona said, “whenever you go there to seek assistance, thereby checking whether there could be additional problem, they give assistance as soon as possible, be it physically or mentally, they don’t delay.”

Radjab Mbonyumuvunyi, The Mayor of Rwamagana District, said that the existence of the center is to offer assistance, to the victims of Gender Based Violance, and to investigate the perpetrators who happened to have committed the crime.

“I hereby request the Citizens to collaborate with leaders at levels with regards to the districts development, as well as the enhancement of health and social welfare, because we found it to be imperative because it enables the citizens to work together.”

Isange One Stop Center was founded by Her Excellency Mrs. JEANETTE KAGAME, during last Ten Years, with an objective of assisting, treating, caring, and to make a follow up on the victims of Gender Based Violance.

It was initiated in the City of Kigali in 2009, in hospitals and later, on its branches were started in all the provinces, for addressing relevant complaints related to Gender Based Violance, be in Women or Men.

IOSC is a Multi-sectoral and interdisciplinary Program being implemented by the Ministry of Gender and Family Promotion, Ministry of Health, Rwanda National Police, the Ministry of Justice, under the coordination of the Ministry of Gender and Family Promotion. The Royal Netherlands Embassy provides program funds through ONE UN in Rwanda.

The program is aimed at providing psychosocial, medical, police and legal services to adult and child survivors of gender-based violence and child abuse occurring in the family or in the community at large.

In the Eastern Province, Isange centres were established in Nyagatare, Ngoma, Rwamagana, Kayonza and Gatsibo; in the Southern, they are operational in Huye, Nyamagabe, Kamonyi, Gisagara and Ruhango. In the Western, they operate in Rubavu, Ngororero, Nyabihu and Karongi; Musanze and Rulindo in the Northern.

The first Isange One Stop Centres was created in July 2009 at Kacyiru Police Hospital as a multi-sectoral and interdisciplinary programme aimed at providing psychosocial, medical, police and legal services to adult and child survivors of gender-based violence and child abuse occurring in the family or in the community at large. Isange also has provisions for emergency contraception, HIV prophylaxis, STI prevention, and other medications. Also, The program is aimed at providing psychosocial, medical, police and legal services to adult and child survivors of gender based violence and child abuse, etc.
