Young People in Muhanga District welcomed the new program on Tuesday, February 08, 2022, which organized by MASHARIKA African Film festival in its program known as “Tumenye cinema Projects”, with the support of the European Union. This is one of the government's plans to launch youth development projects.
This film-making project has a program to train young people in directing, film writing and filmmaking (Film directing, script writer, and filmmaking) It is expected that more than 100 young people will be trained, the trainees will be grouped, projects will be done and other projects will be supported. The trainees will have the equipment and write the winning films that will be awarded. The project will run for three years in Muhanga and Rubavu Districts. The training will be provided free of charge.
We approached some of the young people who participated in the program and told us that they are happy with the program and that it will benefit them. We spoke to Mr. NIYOMUGABO Emile, who spoke to us in the following words: So many of you are wondering if this is a good idea.
We also spoke to the Minister of Youth Culture and Sports in Muhanga District, Mr. UWINGABIRE Dieu Donne, who told us that this is a good project that will benefit the youth and that it should participate adequately and remind them that there are many opportunities that the government has put in place to make them productive.
KAYITARE Lionel, the project's CEO, said the project was timely and that scientists and ribs should not miss out on this opportunity. He said the reason they chose to work in the city of science is because it is reflected in the statistical cinema in the city of science is still low, he told us that this is the time to promote it and he told us that in this program there will be a competition for the best film, which will be rewarded.
