Over 3000 Youth joined #MeetThePresident 2019

Kigali, 14 August 2019, over 3000 young Rwandans living in the country and in the Rwandan community abroad are gathered at Intare Arena for the well known as Meet The President event under the theme “The Promise of a Generation”.

"Youth, you are the strength of today and tomorrow." HE Paul Kagame

President Kagame addressing thousands of Young Rwandans gathered at Intare Arena” You need to be selective in choosing what will enable you to build the society around you. Not

everything.” I want to encourage every speaker to relax, breath. We are all in this together, we have the same goal. Speak freely. If you know how to sing and feel like it, feel free. Take it easy.

When you meet with others, you should not be the only one to speak. Others must have the chance to speak. It is a give and takes the conversation. That is why today, I wanted to begin by listening to you the youth. You must understand the world we live in, it is not very kind, it is very harsh. There is no one out there, who is thinking on your behalf about how to solve your challenges.” President Kagame

"If you are capable of doing something, you are capable of making a good thing." HE Paul Kagame

"Youth, you are the strength of today and tomorrow,

as you build yourselves through education and gaining skills, you have to begin by being a healthy person. We need you healthy.

We must be sure the investments we have made are going to last.

It starts with every individual looking after themselves well, then when these investments are made, we are sure the sky is going to be the limit. This world has a lot of opportunities, but there are also bad things that come in the mix. Sometimes people just confuse everything and they cannot make a distinction between a good opportunity and the bad things." President Kagame remarks

HE Paul Kagame

President Kagame: Are we resigned to always lagging behind everyone, to be the ones to apologize when you are being stepped on and it is like you are even asking for more.

There is something strange about it. You need to be selective in choosing what will enable you to build you and the society around you.

Not everything. As we work for our country to really the best we are capable of doing, you can't wait for somebody else to come and do some of these things for you.

HE Paul Kagame

"You can't outsource values, principles and hard work. Those are things we must do ourselves.

Our sustainable development depends on what you the youth do.

We will only be where we want to be by working together and collectively following a certain path and choices. Everyone knows the effects of drugs. Avoid them. We are good at tearing each other apart, quarreling, but not advancing like what other nations in this world are doing.” President Kagame

"As even cows don’t eat every kind of grass you also need to make some choice and choose what's good for you and for society ."HE Paul Kagame

President Kagame: You can’t outsource certain things. You can’t outsource values, principles, hard work.

All these are things you must face and do. When I say you, I mean me as well, so we.

As we work for development, as we work for our country to be secure,

to be stable, to be free, to be really the best that we want to be and we are capable of being, you can’t wait for somebody else to come and do some of these things for you. We can’t keep blaming others for the problems we have.

"If you are capable of doing something, you are capable of making a good thing."HE Paul Kagame

We will get there by working together collectively, following a certain path, based on certain choices.

“There are things we know very well we have to do and can’t avoid.

We want to transform our country, achieve socio-economic development. There is no one else we expect this from. It is you. But this is on condition that you fulfill certain things. Made in Rwanda is not making anything, it is making something that will go on the market and make sense to the buyer. “HE Paul Kagame

“There is nothing new about Rwanda having problems, and all of us working together to make a difference for ourselves."HE Paul Kagame

If you are capable of doing something, you are capable of making a good thing.

This is how our young people should be brought up, this is the mentality you should grow up with.

You need to be selective in choosing what will enable you to build the society around you. Not everything.

Made in Rwanda is not making anything, it is making something that will go on the market and make sense to the buyer. “HE Paul Kagame

”We are still far from where we want to be.

But surely,

we don't want to be where other people want us to be."HE Paul Kagame
